Is This A Fairytale

This production was cast and rehearsed via zoom during the 2021 lockdown.

Positive Stories for Negative Times is a new national participatory project by Wonder Fools in association with Traverse Theatre. This innovative and exciting project responded to the lack of physical spaces for young people to participate in creative activities due to the pandemic, and instead allowed them to come together to make new work online.

This fairytale has everything you would expect – damsel in distress, dragons and distinguished knights… and depression! Well, maybe not the last one! The jesters are fed up of the heteronormative format of so many fairytales, so they rip it up and start again. You’ll see all of the familiar characters but playing by a different set of rules to tell a new story  that is for everyone.

This is a play about having fun and breaking the rules.
